FDC Class Descriptions

Jazz Technique: Our jazz technique classes focus on clean execution of technical elements. Dancers will focus on posture, alignment, flexibility, turns, leaps, and isolations, all while learning stylized movements. This class helps improve stamina, coordination, and performance quality. We put an emphasis on performance quality, discipline, and strength to prepare dancers for the demands of the stage and beyond.

Lyrical: Lyrical dance bridges the technical foundation of ballet with the emotive power of contemporary movement. This class invites dancers to explore musical interpretation and storytelling through fluid, expressive choreography. In class, students work on fluidity, control, and emotional connection while improving technique through structured exercises and choreography.

Ballet: Ballet is the foundation of all classical and contemporary dance forms, and our ballet program is built on technique, discipline, and artistry. Dancers are guided through a class that emphasizes proper alignment, turnout, strength, and fluidity of movement. Each class develops core technique through barre work, center practice, and across-the-floor combinations.

PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique):  PBT is a specialized conditioning program that supports the development of correct muscle memory and alignment for ballet and other technical dance forms. Using stability balls, resistance bands, and focused core work, dancers improve strength, posture, balance, and flexibility in a safe and controlled environment. This class is ideal for dancers of all levels who want to enhance their technique and body awareness outside of traditional dance training.

Contemporary: Contemporary dance blends elements of ballet, modern, and jazz to create movement that is both innovative and emotionally charged. Dancers explore techniques such as floor work, improvisation, and dynamic shifts in energy and weight.

Tap: Our tap classes focus on building clarity, speed, and coordination while also encouraging improvisation and creativity. Our classes develop musicality, and precision. Whether you’re learning classic Broadway tap or more rhythm-based styles, this class is an energetic and engaging way to develop both musicality and physical control.

Acro: Acro dance combines classical dance technique with athletic acrobatic elements. This class focuses on developing strength, flexibility, and control while learning skills such as handstands, walkovers, aerials, and tumbling. Safety is a priority, and all skills are taught progressively based on the dancer’s individual readiness.

Hip-Hop: Our hip hop classes bring high energy, bold movement, and plenty of personality to the studio. Dancers develop coordination, musicality, and performance presence, all while cultivating their individuality and personal style. Hip hop is about self-expression and confidence, and our classes provide a supportive space for dancers to find their own unique voice through movement.
